Mrs Acilius and I saw something on TV a few days ago that included footage of some military robots. What most impressed me was a remote controlled rover about the size of a small car that opened a compartment in its front, releasing a similarly configured remote controlled rover the size of a large toy car. “Aww, it had a baby!” I said. Mrs Acilius laughed.
Wouldn’t it be nice if future wars were fought with robots instead of people? The idea may seem absurd at first, but if you time about it, what country would want to send its own people out to fight a war against robots?
If it were robots versus robots, that would be great. If it were robots versus people, that would be bad. Unfortunately, modern warfare is more often waged against civilians than against fellow combatants. So if you replace the human soldiers with mechanical ones, you don’t necessarily solve the main problem.
Yes, robots versus robots. Robots going into a country to wage war would be met with more robots instead of civilians. Many hundreds of thousands of robots in between the invading robots and the civilians.
